Last January, WoodWorks released an exclusive acoustical guide introducing recommended floor assemblies for Mass Timber buildings. Of all the solutions currently available on the market, the AcoustiTECH SOFIX acoustic module showed the best results.

The US and Canadian WoodWorks groups provide free one-on-one project assistance related to code-compliant design, engineering and construction of non-residential and multi-family wood buildings. On January 23rd, the American division published this reference guide for construction professionals (architects, developers, engineers, etc.) looking for efficient acoustic solutions for Mass Timber buildings.

In the section "Floor assemblies without concrete topping, with exposed ceiling", AcoustiTECH SOFIX acoustic module is the winner with a FIIC 54 + acoustic rating with ceramic tile flooring.

SOFIX is the acoustic solution which:

  • offers the best acoustic performance (airborne and impact noises)
  • is the lightest
  • avoids having to pour a concrete/gypcrete topping or a self-leveling compound on a construction site (wet trade)
  • is quick and easy to install
  • welcomes all types of floor coverings
